Over the last months it has become abundantly clear that . @AnnastaciaMP is not going to bow to any pressure from political adversaries (NSW govt, federal govt), allies (Beattie) or us in the media and throw open the state's borders #qldpol #nswpol #auspol
My cynical self expected her to throw open the borders the day before the election or even the day after, but that hasn't happened as she's clearly in it for the long run.
Sending a friendly text to Palaszczuk like . @GladysB out of the blue after months of criticism, or outrageously claiming that child exploitation is thriving because Qld traffic cops are wasting time manning checkpoints like Dutton, doesn't work.
Likewise, hoping to catch the Qld premier out by asking her gotcha questions at press conferences about rules in other jurisdictions isn't working either because she always falls back on the health advice.
I admit I have a vested interest in the borders opening because I've been living overseas for 2.5 years and I'd love to see my family and friends (most of whom live in greater Sydney).
The NSW economy is also clearly hurting - tourism spending there was down by $945m in August and that's partly due to Qlders not holidaying there. And there are so many families and friends in Sydney, Victoria and Qld who want to be reunited.
But after months of carrying on about . @AnnastaciaMP via the media with zero impact on the borders or her political standing in Qld (she just won an election with an increased majority), it's probably time for . @GladysB to just pick up the phone and talk to her.
Witness how encouraging Palaszczuk was to Victorians (who's state govt hasn't criticised Qld) about opening up before Christmas just yesterday.

The NSW premier's criticism just isn't having any affect, if anything it's actually setting things back. It's time to change strategy.
