White evangelicals are 15% of the population but made up (roughly) 25% of the electorate on Tuesday. (NEP says 27%; AP 22%)
Despite their declining numbers, they still exercise outsize influence on American elections.
This will make a difference in the upcoming Georgia senate races. White evangelicals are a higher percentage of the GA pop than the national average (18% rather than 15%) - and if they turn out in higher numbers, that's a formidable voting block.
Black Protestants in GA are also 18% of the population. That means the two largest religious groups are evenly split, with most white evangelicals voting GOP; most Black Prots voting Dem.
Any wonder WHY Georgia is so divided?

While white evangelicals just go to the polls en masse with no problems.

White mainliners are GA's third largest group -- at 14% of the population.
