His campaign announcement video opened with the words, “Charlottesville, Virginia.”
And one of his last campaign videos referenced it, as well.
I’m not in love with Biden as a President. I’m not in love with an election that doesn’t address the root causes of white supremacy. I’m not in love with his record or his past.

But we had to get people like Steven Miller and Steven Bannon far away from the levers of power
I have said for three years that we have yet to see or understand the full impact of Charlottesville on the world, that what we did—what our small little community had the courage to do—would have ripple effects through time.
To the extent that it inspired a person to run for office—a deeply flawed person—and unseat the administration that posed the greatest threat to civil liberties in at least two generations, to the extent it inspired that campaign, then I think we can say we had our small part.
The goal of antifascism is liberation, not a president. But to the extent that liberation will always come in steps and fits and starts, helping to unseat a fascist isn’t so bad a step at all.
Biden doesn’t stand for what we were fighting for. And none of us there that day particularly like the way he used those images of our trauma.

But we play the hand we’re dealt and keep the pressure on. That won’t change.

We helped take down a goddamn president.
In Charlottesville, we swung a hammer and it shook the world.

It’s not all what we fought for and none of it is over, but y’know, we did alright.
And of course, @GoadGatsby, one of the very best of us.

And all the others I can’t name but I know you know who you are.
