PlayStation has the lion’s share of momentum from the previous console generation, and stronger brand cachet in places like Europe and Japan. It’s difficult for Xbox to supplant these things, but it is in a much more competitive position this time around. 2/4
Strikingly, whereas in the fourth full year of the previous generation, Xbox was only selling 41% as many consoles as PlayStation, this time around we predict Xbox to be tracking at 63% of PlayStation’s numbers in 2024. 3/4
Xbox has a coherent long-term vision surrounding cloud and content-library subscriptions, to which it has made a substantial commitment. But there are interim questions around the capacity of these movements to propel a new console during the launch phase. 4/4
