I’ve received a number of questions recently about Chase Young for #FFIDP purposes because people want 🔥 box score numbers. I watched all of CY's games from this year and here's why you shouldn't be worried -- and why you should target him before #IDP trade deadlines:

(THREAD)
Let’s start with the obvious — snap count. If you remove Ws 3 & 4 (because of injury) and W8 (bye), Young is 16th in the NFL in total snaps played (244) among EDs.

That's 77% of snaps for CY, while WAS is in the bottom 1/2 of the league in D snaps played (318) over those weeks.
Keeping in mind the groin injury, an injury that tends to linger, his 79% snap share since returning, and leading all WAS edge rushers, should be considered a + going forward.

He shows no signs of lack of strength here — shedding the combo block and taking down Zeke for the TKL.
Young has already shown off his athleticism, speed and ability to finish plays many times in his rookie season.

Here he recovers from getting upfield on the screen pass and shows tremendous effort in chasing down the HB for the TKL. DEs in #FFIDP that can do this = free 💰
Young is top-10 in the NFL among EDs (min 50 snaps) in average depth of tackle (1.43), making him him a constant TFL threat for more bonus #FFIDP points

My fave example of this is against LAR in W5 as he wins so fast that the HB is in his arms before he even knows what hits him.
As for sacks, CY has had to work pretty hard for the ones that he does have this year, as shown below.

First taking on the LT to the outside before turning a chip block by the HB into a fluid spin move to beat the LT to the inside, and then getting a strip sack on the QB. Elite!
While Young was able to get home twice in Week 1, the sacks haven’t always been there, but his impact on the game has been undeniable.

Here he causes the pressure by beating the LT and forcing the QB right into a nice cleanup sack for teammate Tim Settle. Big assist from Young!
Another example of how close he’s been:

Young has a nice jump off the snap here to beat the RT to the inside and force Kyler Murray to get mobile and out of the pocket.

A less-agile QB is in a lot more trouble here.
Versus the Cardinals again, Murray has to get this ball out FAST because Young is right there beaming down on him after smoking the RT to the outside. So close!
What happens when the QB doesn’t get the ball out fast enough? The answer to that is that CY2 makes plays

This play was called back on a penalty but Young beats the LT and gets to the QB in rhythm causing an INT. For #FFIDP we’d get credit for just a hit here but close to a sack
The above example is not the only time Young forced an INT — and this one did not get called back.

A potential look ahead at what's in store this week for the Giants should they try this matchup again. Chase Young vs TE Kaden Smith and QB Daniel Jones:
Here are Young’s opponents to close out the year, and their offensive line pass-blocking ranks according to PFF grade:

🟢W9 - NYG (32)
🟢W10 - DET (14)
🟢W11 - CIN (26)
🟢W12 - DAL (18)
🟡W13 - PIT (10)
🟢W14 - SF (23)
🔴W15 - SEA (7)
🟢W16 - CAR (22)
🟢W 17 - PHI (21)

YES PLS!
Chase Young is an absolute buy right now in fantasy, and especially in dynasty. Fantasy players are generally an impatient group but part of how we can win is by taking advantage of that impatience, so go make offers or hold him if you got him because the big games are coming.
Shoutout to @PFF_NickAkridge for contributing his insight on Chase Young, as the person I consider to be PFF's resident #WashingtonFootball expert.
