// irl shipping

just wanted to add my input on smth i just saw about shipping. i don't care if you ship cc's that explicitly said they were fine with it. ship art can be cute and some fanfics are v well written. the issue is shipping cc's who aren't comfy with it.
for example, technoblade. ik he only said "shipping me with my friends is kinda cringe ngl," but that means don't ship him with people??

you've heard stuff about consent right? consent is a clear "yes, i am comfortable with this"

same goes for shipping! a "um, i don't really +
like it" is not consent?? if someone said that in response to asking a person for consent, surely you would stop?

if it's not a clear yes, it means no. consent is very important whether you are shipping / sexualizing cc's or in a relationship of your own. same rules apply.
so when a cc like dream says, "yes, george, sapnap and i are fine being shipped and sexualized, please don't attack people who do that," that means he has given consent to be shipped/sexualized and that he does not want you to speak for him and attack people who do that.
and on the opposite hand, when techno says "... it depends on the type of fanfic, if you're shipping me with other content creators then that's kinda cringe not gonna lie, kinda cringe ..."

that is not consent. did you hear him say he was comfy with it? no? then don't ship him.
thank you for coming to my ted talk.
