Bear with me.
I have some thoughts this Friday morning. My hubby & I are more cheerful then we've been in weeks. I don't feel so heavy & bleak. It occurs to me that a majority of my church going friends would equate that with putting my faith in man instead of God 1/?

But I am seeing a lot of "fear" & dread from people who were crying for unity and peace the last 6 months. When the roles are reversed, it seems the "peace" & faith is suddenly more difficult to come by. Hm. Does that mean that we truly don't trust God? No. 1/?

The reality is that we have a system in America that has only increased political powers. The lack of checks and balances that the current administration has exposed, has left over half of our country feeling helpless, frightened & attacked. 1/?

Plus the divisiveness of this administration that gaslights people, telling them to"calm down" while actively setting the country on fire in word and deed. Of course non magats are going to feel crazy & powerless in the face of such bold authoritarianism.

Do I look to Biden to save us? Absolutely not. So why am I not light-hearted today? Because I see a shift & the powerless are being given the sign that maybe we, through our narrow voting margins, have been able change the course of this rudderless ride into fascism.

Would God still be on the throne of Trump won? Of course!! That's a stupid question that dismisses the legitimate concerns & fears of over half our nation. Yes , my citenzenship is in heaven, but I'm not THERE yet. I'm here! That's WHY we vote. 1/?

If you feel like your identity as a believer only resides in heaven, then why did you vote? Why do you care who's in power here in this single nation if God is truly the only one in charge? Because God gave us free will & even He expresses concern about the affairs of man. 1/?

He even appointed rulers against His own advice, because the PEOPLE asked for it. He got involved and put leaders in place & removed leaders. If none of this matters, then why would God himself do this? Because He concerns himself with us. 1/?

He actually cares about my feelings, my life on this earth and who is in power, even though He has sovereignty & control. That's what makes him good. When people suffer at the hands of unjust & evil rulers, God gets angry. If that's his posture, why can't it be mine?

So yes I'm hopeful today. Not because "my guy"is likely to win. I'm hopeful that maybe, just maybe this can shift our nation off the dark path it's been speeding down for 4 years. I don't think Biden will "save" our nations soul, but I think it can set us on a different path.
