a brief nerdy interior talk about yoongi’s room and how it referred to his artistry thru abstract interior design;
the centre of the room has with the most density and colour; royal blue & velvet,, it’s almost like a private joke as velvet itself has a long history of being linked to luxury, glamour & even ROYALTY. paired w a shade with this name it’s hard to miss the implication of majestic
but as we focus on the details our eyes pick up on some surprising or “absurd” details w the silver metal accents around the room. the decors such as dripping details under the cushions, möbius strip inspired lamp, the mirror on the floor and spheres overthrows the viewers
whether it’s the melting, the illusion of a möbius strip, juxtaposition of seeing a mirror on the floor rather than its upright position? they are surrealism interpreted thru abstract interior,, it’s creativity of the unconscious mind. very fitting to yoongi’s genius artistry
i wanted to give dali’s painting as most of you might be familiar with surrealism thru this,, surrealism can use dreamlike qualities (melting couch), elements that seem random (spheres), illusion (möbius lamp) and perplexity (mirror on the floor),, yoongi’s room combined all+
to give the impression of an avant-garden space, beyond the conscious mind and into the subconscious where imagination and creativity is completely unlocked,, it felt like a beautiful ode to yoongi and his artistry, tapping into the the beautiful mind of an artist
