The worst type of absconders are those who sign a bond, complete their PhD and then find job there and say we will return the money. It wasn't about the money alone. The scholarship an institution gives is its investment in time for future of the students and for quality of
education and research. The higher education institutions spend millions and wait for you to come back and bring back the institution to somewhat competitive level. It is never a loan in money, but a loan in time. Okay, now you can returns tens of millions easily because you got
a PhD on money of the institution but who will return the time? What about the time the institute spent waiting for you to give them back? If they have to send someone else again they have to wait 5 years more. And in these 5 years, given how knowledge production is changing
rapidly, they will lag behind maybe 10 years. These are the worst who try to take the moral highground, compromise on the future of students and then lecture us on how they are right. Shut up till you find a way to give back the institution you so deprived of 10 years.
