One reason the Biden campaign is so confident about Arizona? The exits show Biden and Trump split white voters evenly: 49-49. But Biden won Latino voters (about 6 in 10, bolstered mainly by Latinas). That math tells them and tells us, Biden wins w/ Latinos making the difference.
So again, this narrative that Latinos hurt Biden is absolutely false. They lifted him everywhere they voted (and they registered and voted in what look like record numbers) everywhere except Miami-Dade. Even in Florida Puerto Ricans lifted Biden. Only Cuban-Americans hurt him.
Cuban-Americans are 3 percent of the Latino population and are overwhelmingly concentrated in South Florida. A small number also live in NJ and CA but not in numbers that dent the overwhelmingly Mexican-American Latino demographic in the Southwest and West.
So yet another irony: Trump opened his campaign by saying Mexico was sending ârapistsâ and criminals to America; and it was largely Mexican-Americans nationwide and especially in the part of America that was Mexico before it was America who are taking him down.
Perhaps stealing and caging Central American children just to send a message to terrify future migrants and impress anti-immigrant voters was a mistake, not to mention a grievous moral catastrophe?
