More redemption arcs need to include the subjects never being forgiven by the people they hurt, and this needs to be treated by the story as being just.

Redemption needs to stop equaling “you get everything you had back and then everything is fine again.”

Usually you don’t.
The things you broke are still broken. The people you hurt are still hurt. You’re not entitled to what’s mended, or to an ounce of forgiveness.

Redemption has to be a journey undertaken with the understanding that you may get absolutely nothing out of it, because it’s right.
I’m on this because we’re about to get a storm of people selling us on the utter dogshit idea that we need to let our Trump supporting countrymen back into our lives.

Listen whether or not they get their little redemption arc isn’t the point. The point is it’s NOT OUR PROBLEM.
If (and it’s a BIG IF) some of these fuckers want to go on a grand journey of self discovery to find their inner light or whatever, who fucking cares? They still did what they did, and you don’t owe them squat no matter how much they allegedly improve themselves.
