THREAD: I don't often say this, but I think Ed Whelan is right here (I would reframe it as "R Senate can limit much of what Biden would do to improve voting rights, democracy reform, economic inequality, etc.)
BUT: Ds should use this as motivation & not rest on winning the WH.
BUT: Ds should use this as motivation & not rest on winning the WH.
It's just true that there will be real limits to what Biden is able to do without the Senate -- particularly with a 6-3 conservative Court that is hell bent on curbing the administrative state (i.e., the agencies that the Biden administration will be able to make policy through).
So Dems should get to celebrate for a little. (I had cheesecake & walnut beigli for breakfast today!)
BUT then Dems should start organizing NOW -- it is worth fighting, tooth and nail, to try and win the GA Senate runoffs.
AND the people we should listen to about HOW to win in GA and WHAT to do there are @staceyabrams and all of the grass roots organizers who turned out new, D voters. That's how to win, at least in GA. https://twitter.com/staceyabrams/status/1324687447259779072
THEN, you turn to the Senate map in 2022, which includes an open seat (because of a Republican retirement) in Pennsylvania, and a Republican Senator up for reelection in Wisconsin, both of which ... Biden won!
And AGAIN we should be listening to the grass roots organizers in Milwaukee, Philadelphia, and other places who turned out Democratic voters. They should be the ones that Dem leadership turns to in order to figure out who should run, and how.
And most importantly: We ALL have to stay as involved in the GA Senate runoffs and the 2022 Senate races as we were in the 2020 general election.
Monthly donations; voter protection; calling voters; helping people cure ballots; etc. And a lot of that can start NOW.

Definitely agree with this: https://mobile.twitter.com/ssamcham/status/1324744689266925568
I signed up for monthly donations to @ReverendWarnock and @ossoff and am contributing to @fairfightaction (duh). And am going to do more for GA as well.
