Can we talk about after close 2018 defeats Stacey Abrams primarily focused on local organizing & enfranchisement
While Beto O’Rourke ran for the next highest office
And how GA is on the brink of a transformation & TX is still “maybe next time”
Bc there is A LOT to unpack there

Here is what I saw:
Stacey Abrams saying, “I didn’t run for the title, I ran to do the work”
Beto O’Rourke saying, “I was born to be in it”
This showed up in how they primarily (a word chosen with intent) focused on their next steps

I see a difference in how a progressive Black woman viewed the solution as enfranchising her community.
Vs a progressive white man who viewed the solution as enfranchising himself with the expectation that he could then help the community.

I know some/many may think this isn’t fair. Beto has done, & I believe will continue to do, great work since his presidential run ended
But this part of his story, & Stacey Abrams’ story, is also emblematic of why we need more Black women leading our way out of our nation’s mess
