As excited as I am right now to see how the tides are turning... deep down, I’m already feeling sad about the kinds of attacks we’re about to see against the FIRST Black AND Woman Vice President in the history of this country, from people who are supposedly on her side...
I hope you’re ALL prepared to fight the racist, sexist, bullshit rhetoric you’ll be seeing from your peers.
Policy aside, this is progress. This IS a huge step, it’s a HUGE deal, whether you like the specifics or not.
It means the world to Black women like me.

This is how progress works. And we have to defend that so we can see those even larger steps down the line.

Look, MULTIPLE things can be true at once.
These are not the candidates we all wanted. They have questionable and dangerous policies, they have made mistakes in the past, and a lot of what they do is not nearly progressive enough.
AND they got the results we needed. And they

will ensure that we continue to have a (flawed) democracy in which we can continue to fight for our lives and for change, so that eventually we can see the world we so rightly deserve.
That’s why we have to keep marching, and fighting, and voting, and staying heard.

Change & Progress don’t start or end with politicians. It belongs solely to every individual, & the only way we ever move forward is by mustering our own forces and making & inspiring that change.
This election is a means to an end. And that end is a better future.
