This month’s #jobsreport is here: 480k women entered the labor force last month — but we’re still short 2.2 million women in the labor force since February.
Despite some job gains, about 1 in 11 Black women (9.2%) and Latinas (9.0%) are still unemployed, compared to 5.8% of white men. #JobsReport
63% of jobs women gained were in the leisure and hospitality (I.E. bars + restaurants), and retail industries.

These jobs are precarious — both because of the risk of COVID-19 exposure, and the potential for closures as cases surge over the winter. #JobsReport
At an unemployment rate of 15%, young (20-24) Black women are among some of the most hurt by job losses, with young Latina women not far behind at 9.4%. #JobsReport
The unemployment rate for women with disabilities is nearly double what it was in February, going from 7.4% to 14.2%. #JobsReport
This #jobsreport reminds us again that this pandemic has disproportionately harmed women by forcing them to balance caregiving responsibilities and making ends meet — all while COVID-19 cases surge.

We must fight for women’s economic security and their safety too.
