I highly disagree, Mr Azoff. What those people do, is anticipating on the time we are living in and anticipating on their fandom. As far as I know, H’s targetaudience is mostly 15 till 30 years old. To reach that audience, you will use social media..
Reaching your audience through SM is also having another side effect: you will stand on the same level as your fans. What H’s team is doing now is putting him in such a position that he’s almost unreachable by his fans. They create this environment where H feels superior..
You need an fanbase that can relate to you. The connection between an artist and his fans should feel like a friendship. If you have that connection with your fans, they will develop loyalty. And loyalty is what you need as an artist to try out new things.
Fans ensure that artists have a livelihood in the music industry.. especially with the road H is walking now, trying out a different path in terms of music..I have the feeling that Azoff is trying to make H very big, very quick..that’s great.. but it also attracts a new sort fans
Fans who will go as quickly as they come into a fandom. Who will lift on artists who are trending at that time. For short term goals, that’s great.. but for long term it isn’t. Everyone is always having an opinion on Liam, but what Liam is doing now with his shows is very smart
He puts the fan central, gives them the feeling that they are involved.. he is standing on the same level as his fans and is very approachable. He creates loyalty and keeps the attention on himself and his music in a very easy way. He feels like a friend..
Go under the radar, sit and wait is not how you keep yourself relevant on the long term. Times like these need a different approach. Don’t stick to the oldfashion way of marketing. Because one day you’re in, next day you’re out..
