We're not a centrist or right-of-center country

We're a left-of-center country w/ an 18th century system that is disproportionately biased towards a minority of right-of-center voters

It's why Biden won millions more votes but still has to care about 20,000 in WI or 1,000 in GA
It's why Democratic senators consistently win more total votes than Republicans but McConnell still gets to be majority leader

It's why millions more people vote for a Democratic House virtually every year but we can only take the majority if we win in GOP districts
The idea that it comes down to message or tactics or ideology or whatever just misses the bigger point

There are insane anachronistic structural advantages for Republicans that allow them to win power even when they get fewer votes

It's that's simple
This is not to say that message or tactics or ideology or whatever aren't important.

It's that "progressives" are right that the majority shouldn't have to appeal to a right-of-center minority of voters to win & "centrist Dems" are right that we need to win in conservative areas
