I'm just about ready to throw in the towel. This is a total casino. The way I see it, the world's wealthiest investors are sucking capital out of the system by owning the majority of bonds and equities. But they won't invest that cash back into the system because...
...asset prices are too high (thanks to record amounts of QE). The Fed is so deathly afraid of deflation that they will pump unlimited liquidity into the system to keep a zombie economy alive. Even governments believe that they can spend their way out of deflation. Meanwhile...
...banks have stopped lending to try and tighten the money supply. But the dollar keeps falling in value, so investors are piling back into risk assets believing that there is no alternative investment. Everyone knows this is a casino but they just don't care.
I've spent the last year learning everything I could about Global Macro and loved every second of it. But I've also learned that our world is run by greed, stupidity and lack of responsibility. From the top 1% to the bottom 99%, everyone prefers to live in blissful ignorance.
Congratulations Fed, you win. The Matrix has been reset and the puppet show continues. The irony is that once you know how the system works, it takes a gambler to put your money in. Perhaps I've caught the dengue fever like @hendry_hugh. Side effects of taking the red pill.
