Political media is falling back into the idea that more than 65 million Americans voting for Trump means that Democrats need to begin appealing to white voters again. How is that always the takeaway instead of encouraging the broadening of a coalition of marginalized voters?

When I interviewed Stacey Abrams in 2018 for an unpublished article, she made this point very clearly. We need to create and maintain a coalition of marginalized voters, end voter suppression, and end gerrymandering to win elections. White people are going to white. Let them.
