The day before #Lockdown2 I took the dog for a long walk. We got him days before the first lockdown and now he's big enough to go farther afield by train, so off we set from South Ruislip.

(thread)
We didn't go hugely far, just up to Denham on the @chilternrailway. Dog's not really used to trains yet so a bit unsettled by this...
...but soon we were at Denham and headed for the sunlight on an unexpectedly mild day.
You may just be able to spot the dog among the shadows of the avenue of trees that passes through the Buckinghamshire Golf Club (right on the very edge of Bucks), and which was once a #DoctorWho location right back in the first series in the 60s.
As it was a new place he stayed on the lead, but was eager to be off it and to make new friends of the many other dogs we met as we went past the club house...
...(which is in very attractive surrounds)...
...and leads us through to part of the @Colne_Valley which will take us back to @Hillingdon...
...over the Colne...
...and then left at the canal, over Denham Lock...
...and up to the bridge at the border.
We're not far here from some other #DoctorWho locations so this quote seems apt: "So what's a bridge for, eh? Then cross it!"
Soon enough, we're exploring the four lakes on the path to Ickenham, which I have visited before.
The dog is more curious about water than he used to be...
...although he doesn't lean over too far, unlike me.
As we reached the opposite end of @uxbridgegolfcl1, the dog encountered his first ever stile, and negotiated it in style.
He likes open space most of all, but...
... but there are more stiles (and gates) to cross...
...and one railway (although this particular spot will soon be HS2)...
...before it's a straight run into Ickenham, then across Ickenham Marsh...
...before he finally gets to flop down on his new cushion.

Whole journey from Denham about 5 miles. For the next few weeks of lockdown, we'll only be able to cover a smaller radius, but at least we had this sunny afternoon to explore.
