day 2 of margo moon's opinion

today's topic: upvotes, entitlement, narcissism (mainly m4f-wise)
there is a massive problem of new M4F VAs swanning in to GWA and get hundreds of upvotes from the get-go. this has seemed suspicious to me (and i'm reasonably new as a creator) and to many others who have been around for quite some time
here's the thing. more upvotes =/= better content. in fact, there is often content that get hundreds of upvotes that is completely mediocre in comparison to some content that is incredible and doesn't get nearly enough attention as it deserves
you might say, hey, margo, they're getting all the upvotes because they *deserve* it. but... do they? do they really? being a new creator and instantly getting hundreds of upvotes and attention just DOESN'T HAPPEN.
an audio getting hundreds/thousands of upvotes used to only happen with either big audio collab projects or with accounts that have steadily built up a reputation over the years.
some of these new people who have come in and gotten high off their own fame have also been incredibly arrogant and rude, referring to themselves as the ~future~ of GWA, while not even giving back to the community that is supporting them.
is this every new creator? absolutely not. what it is is a vocal minority that are getting way ahead of themselves and appropriating a space that they're not giving back to.
support artists, VAs and writers alike, who aren't getting as much hype as they deserve. diversify your listening habits. someone having a patreon doesn't automatically mean they're amazing. give smaller accounts more support
i'd like to reassert, as i did yesterday, that this isn't about any one person. it's just another new concerning trend in GWA and other audio communities.

interpersonal relationships and giving back to a community that supports you is infinitely more important than upvotes
give smaller new accounts more attention too, leave comments and compliments and encourage them.

listeners often forget that as artists we offer a lot of work for FREE for people to enjoy.

avail of it and use it kindly and responsibly.
