We can discuss the gender pay gap as much as we like, but until we acknowledge the fact it isn't highly 'feminised' jobs that are undervalued but women's work *because it's done by women* regardless of industry, we'll get nowhere
Women’s work is devalued in the job market because *women* are seen to have little value. This means that anything a woman does, be it childcare, teaching, or caregiving will be seen to be of less value simply because it is practised by women
Cooking and fashion are seen as frivulous interests when carried out by women but when men commodified both industries, male chefs and fashion designers are professionals. Men used to dominate psychology fields, until women entered and it's now seen as psuedoscience
Absolutely keep encouraging women to take an interest in STEM, politics and business but it's not enough for women to simply demand access to male-dominated fields, we also need to change a culture that implicates a sense of inferiority with anything women contribute
