white bernie supporters have been insufferable for a long time. i wanted it to be bernie! in 2016 and 2020. but wow the continued racism and class reductionism of these supporters. shows how all white americans are invested in whiteness

over & over i see white leftists, many of them young grad students, with maybe a year of organizing experience, try to talk over Black leftists who have been organizing for decades. these white leftists make the most anti-Black assumptions abt organizing work + electoral politics

there’s such a smug expression of assumed intellectual superiority from these white leftists (rooted in completely unexamined white supremacy). they act as though Black organizers & thinkers & writers are not, time and again, the most radical political laborers in this country

maybe Black & POC organizers aren’t interested in joining a white leftist “movement” because you’re actually inexperienced and racist, and communities of color already have their own orgs & political histories & strategies (which you never bothered to study)

distrust in white-led leftist orgs and institutions comes from a history of understanding that white leftists will in practice also betray Black people and POC. or basically say “your issues come later.”

also just the way that any white person, of any politics, won’t hesitate to demand so much labor from Black organizers & educators. to explain again the most basic concepts. to prove again that systemic racism exists and must be dismantled
