I am totally confused by this... our politicians don’t want to impose unfair administrative burdens on trading partners with regard to how they farm and treat animals...
But are quite happy to impose the same standards and administrative burdens on our farmers

They actually want to protect American food from proving equivalence with regard to environmental or welfare standards
Whilst stopping our farmers doing the unpleasant and damaging practices that make the American food cheaper

Of course imported goods should prove equivalence with regard to our food safety/welfare/environmental standards
Food shouldn’t come in to this country unless it can prove equivalence - and maybe our politicians should be defending British interests not American ones

We spent all week doing an audit of our standards for Red Tractor
Whilst our politicians are arguing the same standards basically don’t matter for imported food
This is total BS
