It looks like Georgia finally flipped...
That is, they counted enough votes to confirm the result.
Biden was always winning, this is just paperwork.
Think it's still too narrow a lead to be called, but it's good to have confirmation that the count is nearing its ultimate conclusion. If we're still assuming Biden has AZ, we're done. If not, we're very, very nearly done.
(But we've been done for, like, 36 hours *really*.)
There's going to be no recourse to the courts: Biden will get 306 electoral college votes by the end, and only a couple of states will even be close enough to justify recounts. WI will make him pay to do it too. https://twitter.com/TheSaraGames/status/1324654957988139008?s=19
Trump's team are talking about (and have tried) "going to the courts" but they need to bring an actual case - you can't just show up with a briefcase full of shredded newspaper and a conspiracy theory and have a judge weigh in.
Without *some* evidence of the fraud they're claiming, it'll be thrown out immediately. No point wasting a court's time on hearsay and partisan grievances. It's bluster.
The concessions they have won with court orders so far are pretty stringently bipartisan - stuff like allowing observers to stand closer to the counting (6 feet rather than 20 feet).
Packing the SCOTUS, which was obviously their ultimate Plan Z, is only going to come into play if there's some genuine doubt about the result. No one except Trump's most fervent cultists are buying his nonsense about mass electoral fraud.
The thing is, this strategy hinged on things being closer than they are. Trump started his 'stop the count' stuff when he was *behind*. They thought they'd have a massive lead to muddy the waters on election night! https://twitter.com/philthomas1311/status/1324657938531844096?s=19
And, tbf, a lot of the narrative has taken root on some level - we've all fallen into the trap (including us at the top of this thread) of talking about states "flipping" as the counts come in.
It's really important that we understand that all these votes now being counted were cast on or before election day. Biden had *already won*, they just needed to count enough votes to confirm it (like always!).
The idea of "late ballots" is a bit of Trumpian spin to make you *feel* they're less legitimate. The irony is that, even without them, he'd lose or, at best, scrape a win. Again, on the night, he was *losing*.
That's why it's all fallen apart. They now have to sell this idea that there's voter fraud on a vast, vast scale. That's what forced Trump to claim last night that the whole electoral system - the same one that brought him to power, remember! - is corrupt.
You can see the logic fraying at the seams. He's entered the realm of his most deluded fans' conspiracy theories. It's not just the "deep state" now: it's *everyone*. Fox, the Republican party itself, "big tech", etc.
Ironically, they'll soon be at the point where it's literally just them against the whole world which...has actually circled back to being true!
