1/ A vaccine might be eagerly awaited, but it must not be mandatory
We take that route at our peril. @juliansavulescu 'says that there is a case for mandatory vaccination' https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-britons-should-be-paid-to-take-covid-19-vaccine-says-oxford-professor-12125012

2/ @juliansavulescu says: 'Coercion for the public good is already accepted in wearing seat belts' - except wearing a seat belt does not interfere with bodily autonomy

3/ @juliansavulescu says: "another way of looking at this is that those at low risk are being asked to do a job which entails some risk, albeit a very low one," he argues.
"So they should be paid for the risk they are taking for the sake of providing a public good."
"So they should be paid for the risk they are taking for the sake of providing a public good."

4/ "It may be those who are poorer may be more inclined to take the money and the risk, but this applies to all risky or unpleasant jobs in a market economy," says @juliansavulescu

5/ "It is not necessarily exploitation if there are protections in place such as a minimum wage or a fair price is paid to take on risk." Says @juliansavulescu

6/ This is a horrifying article, both in content and tone. I speak as someone who is fully vaccinated, as are my children. Coercion is not acceptable and we must always, always maintain essential rights of bodily autonomy.
7/ The way to persuade people to take the vaccine, is by building trust and respect with the public about liberty and rights. Everything I have seen over the last 9 months has demonstrated the exact opposite.
8/ So that's it. I'm 'out there' now. I will speak out loudly about this and I will fight it to the end. NO. NO. NO to mandatory vaccines.
