We're pleased to share the 'Mapping VAWG funding' report by @docadisa (PI), @alwaysalreadyun @DrRuthWeir, @Hopetraining & Prof Bond. The report makes six recommendations for funders. Huge thanks to Comic Relief for funding this work #research #VAWG Link: https://www.uos.ac.uk/sites/www.uos.ac.uk/files/Mapping%20VAWG%20funding%20ecosystemFINAL.pdf
✅We estimated that over the last two years (2018 and 2019), at least approximately £430 million has been invested in ending VAWG from Trusts and Foundations (T&Fs) and central government funding. These two sources remain the biggest funding sources for ending VAWG in E&W.♀️
🔍Two central government funding calls examined as examples—Tampon Tax Fund (TTF) and the Service Transformation Fund (STF)—as well as the insights from survey respondents and evidence review, we found five blockages in the funding ecosystem💡💡💡💡💡
Key blockages found:
❌Partnerships & power dynamics at the local level
❌Cost-focused competitive tendering processes
❌Issues with communicating value
Key blockages found (cont'd):
❌Overemphasis on project-and innovation-focused funding
❌Bias against smaller/less established organisations • Complex application process, competition and lack of support
