1. Friends... The US election system is basically sound, free, and open.

Transparency and vigilance help keep it that way.

Undermining confidence, though, also undermines the system.
2. In light of that, I ask you to please, please verify and do a bit of research before retweeting something that appears sketchy.

Very often there are simple, legit explanations for things that appear to be off.
3. On a personal level, you can reassure yourself that YOUR vote was counted. In many (most? all?) states/counties you verify your vote status online.

For Florida, this is at the county level at the Supervisor of Elections website.
4. One of the beauties of our election system is that things are done as much as possible on a local and state level.

Try googling your county name and voter registration, and you should be able to find where to verify your vote.
5. If you have concerns YOUR vote wasn't counted -- look up your state election board's voter protection hotline. You may also want to contact the political party for whom most of your votes were cast.
6. Vigilance and the rule of law help keep our elections free and open. Transparency (re)builds trust in the system.
7. Next election?

YOU volunteer to work the polls. Contact your local political party and ask how you can help.

This election? Keep watch, but don't retweet things unless you do some research first.
