I thought I'd do a thread on the current election and where things are headed. I'm going to try to pull together various scenarios that could occur under from here.

As things stand "officially", Biden looks "likely" to become President (based on EC votes). But, not so easy.
The first issue is that Biden must win Arizona and Georgia. If he loses Arizona and Georgia, then he must rely on his "victories" in MI and WI and hope he can win PA.

He could of course win all these states given that the official margins are small everywhere. Or Trump could.
If Trump wins, GA, PA and AZ, he wins the election (this is still possible). GA is ordering a recount and there are stories of fraud coming out of PA. GOP observers were prevented from inspecting a vote counting venue in Philly despite a court order, which is itself suspicious.
To complicate things even more, Nevada is also a dead heat and either side could win it. In addition, law suits have been filed for voter irregularities in Nevada too.

So in short, given how many law suits are likely to pile up, will Trump concede?

I don't think he will.
Of course, a lot depends on whether Trump voters are persuaded that there really was significant fraud in many of the states. If they are not persuaded, they will expect him to step down and accept defeat. But if they are persuaded (which I think is the case), there will be anger
And a desire to fight it out in the courts.

For a precedent, we have to go back to 2000. There was a dispute about ballots in Florida between Gore and Bush. The latter was declared a marginal winner but Gore sued. The case then wound up in the US Supreme Court where it......
Dragged on until the middle of December 2000 when Al Gore conceded. Remember: Gore was under no obligation to concede or not fight. Eventually, given the circumstances he chose to concede. And the number of ballots involved was small (a few hundred that were disputed).
This time, we are looking at claims in PA, MI, WI, NV and possibly GA. It will involve hundreds of thousands of ballots and claims of mail in ballot fraud (in Nevada alone there are claims that 223,000 ballots were sent to the wrong address).

Anyone who has contested in......
Court will tell that the time required to resolve anything in court increases exponentially the more evidence there is. Courts need time to examine the evidence. They cannot throw a claim on grounds that they "cannot interfere with an election" (were that the case, there would...
Be no claim in the first place and Gore would not have sued.

Anyway, my best guess is that courts do not have enough time to examine all of the fraud claims.

The Constitution requires a President sworn in by January 20.

So now what?

Wait for public reactions/opinion.
Assuming Trump has officially lost and contests what happened with fraud in some states, it comes down to how voters in those states feel about Trump's claims of fraud. The claims would need to be made in very clear terms to move public opinion.

I do not think Americans do.....
Not care if there was "some" rigging.

We are in uncharted territory. There has never been an election with such voluminous claims of fraud. Allegations will fly thick and fast. Anything can happen.
Now let us assume that Biden does get sworn in as President and within two years of his assuming office, several claims of electoral fraud are proved and this results in heavy losses in the House and Senate for the Dems (as it is they did poorly in the both House and Senate).
Actually, even without any such issue, Obama lost heavily in the midterms of 2010 (no one remembers this now).

If Republicans take control of both houses and the claims are shown to be true, does Biden get impeached?

Some will dismiss this as nonsense but the House.........
Impeached Trump over the Ukrainian prosecutor issue.

Domestic electoral fraud will be deemed as much more serious and Biden could then be removed by impeachment by Congress.

As I said, we are in uncharted territory.
