It's not lost on me that a lot of the hardcore Trumpist reactionaries in Hong Kong are pretty much the same in social and political outlook as MAGA chuds in the US. I don't spend my time engaging respectfully with the latter so why should I with the former?
I hope that the takeaway from 2019 is that no cutting and brother's climb mountain have hard limits: right-wingers exploited it to the extreme, policing and shutting down ideological critique in the name of "movement unity" (ie. their own dominance). I don't need to respect that.
It's a thorny issue, what "can" the diaspora say/do in relation to Hong Kong. Surely diaspora folks shouldn't be issuing demands—but then, should anyone? But fighting right-wing racist reactionaries/wannabe fascists is something everyone should do, regardless of geography.
Anyway, tl;dr:
NO SANCTITY FOR FASCISTS
NO SANCTITY FOR FASCISTS
PS. Colonized bourgeoisie are still bourgeoisie and their very status as colonized people makes them all the more susceptible to revanchism, the selling out of postcolonial liberation, and conservative protection of colonial capitalist bureaucratic structures. This is Fanon 101.
