Biden is going to win #Election2020 . So why are people of color in agony?

Because a racist and misogynist POTUS can preside over tens of thousands preventable American deaths, tank the economy and undermine liberal democracy, and at least 70m Americans say: "Run that back." 1/
Some folk could rationalize 2016. Ppl could claim they didnt know Trump was racist. I don't understand how; he tried to lynch the Central Park Five, discriminated against blacks in public housing, called Mexicans rapists and criminals. But maybe he'd "grow" or so went the hope 2/
But this POTUS' first action was a Muslim ban; he locked brown kids in cages; he told white supremacists condemned by the FBI as a grave threat to America to "stand back and stand by", he ignored Russian bounties on American soldiers. His negligence fueled a deadly pandemic. 3/
Please understand, Republican or Trump voting Americans: this isn't Mitt Romney. It's not either Bush. It's not John McCain. They had policies I fought and disagreed with; but at no point did I believe they'd suborn open racist violence and white supremacy. 4/
This President is a white supremacist. And that 70 million Americans know this and are voting for him anyway breaks my heart and the heart of every person of color you know. 5/
Sure, try to justify it by thinking of the judiciary, or his profane veneer of faith; but I've read my Bible cover to cover and nowhere does it say "Life doth begin at conception and end at birth." But that's what 70m ppl are saying. Black/brown lives cease to matter at birth. 6/
We'll go on. We've no choice. But please don't say "we're better than this," or "this isn't who we are." I say it again - we can and must be better, for our own souls, but at present, this is exactly who we are. 7/
And for those grateful that the darkness of the Trump presidency is ending: it's ending b/c of Latinx folk in Arizona and Black folk in Detroit and Philly and Black/Asian/Latinx folk in Atlanta. All of whom are receiving the message that we are less than human. I'm so tired.
