If you’re curious: Georgia’s ballot marking machines are Android x86 tablets, ballots are printed with HP printers, the ballot scanners run μClinux on an NXP ColdFire 68k chipset, results get stored in XML with images & logs on dual CF cards with AES256, SHA256 hashes & HMAC.
The cards are plugged in to a Dell running Windows where a .NET app verifies and then uploads the data over TLS 1.2 to a MS SQL Server. Almost all of the system, including the Avalue HID-21V tablets, Dell PCs, HP printers, Canon scanners, SQL Server, and cards are off-the-shelf.
Initial vote results you see online are reported to the GA SOS as raw CSV exports from counties’ databases, though a full audit and certification process then follows. All statewide ballots and ballot images are stored and can be reviewed later.

The system is pen tested with @kalilinux and @nessus. Really.
If the scanner detects an anomaly on the ballot it is flagged and the image is routed for adjudication. A panel with a Republican volunteer, Democratic volunteer, and an elections worker follow uniform rules to ascertain a voters intent. On the right in the back on the table you can see the Dell PC, HP printer, and a USB CF card reader, possibly there to upload mail-in ballot returns processed by what looks like a ballot scanner in the bottom left. https://twitter.com/rkempnewsdaily/status/1324577948356194305
The check-in device is an iPad Air 2. Here is a video of the voting process ⬇️. What looks like a game controller on the left is an accessibility device. There are also headphones, translations, magnified, and high contrast options.
