Everyone is so shocked by the way he's spiraling right now. And I kinda get that. But this is such a blatant, obvious NPD spiral to me, that it's honestly funny. B/c I've dealt with it so many times.

See, NPD is rooted in severe self-esteem issues (and let's face it, if I was that much of a walking dumpster fire I would have issues too). So NPD is like a cover-up. They deal with that immense insecurity by constructing a genuine belief in their own specialness. 2/
Basically, they lie to themselves until they believe they really are god's fucking gift to the planet. It becomes a core belief.
But that's a flimsy, fragile. shield, and they must, MUST do whatever they can to protect it from breaking. 3/

So here's the thing. Trump doesn't just want to win. He doesn't even need to win. He BELIEVES HE IS SUPPOSED TO WIN.
And when I say believe, I mean like core tenet of being. Like, the way we believe in gravity or breathing air. 4/

But what makes it worse is that somewhere way, way deep down, he knows that if that belief is disproven, it will invalidate the house of cards he's built up about his own immeasurable worth to the universe. Honestly, I can't imagine a more horrifying feeling 5/
So what happens when you present an NPD w/ irrefutable proof that their carefully constructed belief system is going to fall apart? They spiral.

If he's unable to believe in his own defeat (and I fucking promise you - he's unable to), then the only logical conclusion is that an outside force is acting against him. Honestly the logic is sound, it's the founding assumption that's flawed. 7/
But, again, this is typical NPD. He has to believe in his own amazingness, so it's literally inconceivable that others could fail to see what is so plainly obvious to him. So it must be all them devilish Dems trying to muck up the election. Obvs! 8/
Here's the rub: These spirals are just that. They spin faster and further out of control with every revolution. That's why every presser and every statement seems wackier and more ludicrous than the last. They'll get worse before they get better. 9/
The last resort of the NPD is to revise history. They can't reconcile being awesome and also losing. So they will rewrite their version to match the outcome. That's why I say in a few weeks or months he'll be telling everyone how he threw the election just to get out of there 10/
That's also why I don't honestly think he'll refuse to leave. In the long run he needs an out in order to rewrite history. If he literally has to be forcibly removed, it's hard to sell that deception to himself (but not impossible).
