Asked by @NBCNews tonight what Republicans are thinking about @realDonaldTrump, I reported my calls to senior House/White House leadership, relaying on air they are celebratory about House gains, and in agreement w/ @POTUS that systemic bias in polling suppressed their vote. 1
“2020 is a year that will live in polling infamy,” was my summary. Support for @realDonaldTrump’s message on this point is complete among the GOP. Bias, while not intentional, depresses turnout, fundraising. That GOP had gains despite of this bias is not refutation it exists. 2
I added that I’ve not seen evidence of fraud, but that I believe @realDonaldTrump remarks should be carried in full (and then critiqued) and that a federal court did rule in GOP favor today about observers in Philly. Litigation will continue and is legitimate. 3
Polling misses run in one direction cycle after cycle. That’s bias. @realDonaldTrump is leader of a party that is very grateful for his effect on turnout in the face of many headwinds in media and the overall “narrative.” Fraud has not been proven. It may be, but hasn’t been. 4
60 million+ Americans voted for @realDonaldTrump and it’s important that the views of his supporters and his party be heard. I’m glad @NBCNews offers me the opportunity to relay those views following thorough reporting. Childish that left on Twitter doesn’t like hearing them. 5
