How can we make PEI more attractive to recruit and retain healthcare staff long-term? Here are a few ideas I’ve brought forward in the Legislature so far:
Provide more opportunities for nursing and support staff to upgrade skills and further their education in a timely and effective manner, such as a 2+2 LPN to nursing program,
Explore innovative solutions that would improve work-life balance, decrease worker burnout and make us stand out from other Provinces, such as a 4 day work week,
And, most importantly, the Hillsborough hospital is outdated and unsafe. Finalize plans and fulfil the long-standing promise to build a new mental health campus that will support best practices in mental health care #builditandtheywillcome
