Hot take about hot takes: the circular firing squad is going to get bad. You're going to hear a metric fuck ton of hot takes in the next few days, weeks, and months. 90% of them are going to be from folks who stand to benefit from whatever they're saying. Don't listen (1/?)
You're going to see folks who say "if x or y happened then we would've flipped that state." When you hear or read that remember there is a 90% chance it's not true. We need to take our time, do the analysis, talk to voters, organizers, vols, and candidates. (2/?)
We need to have tough conversations, many of which should happen behind closed doors and not on Twitter. All of us should be scrutinized because nobody was perfect this cycle. That is how we get better. We take the time to listen, learn, and reflect. Then, we keep building. (3/?)
You're going to see some really incredible operatives take heat. Some of it might be deserved (nobody is perfect), but most won't be. Most will be folks with agendas taking shots at folks who've spent most of their careers working hard and doing it the right way. (4/?)
I am mostly writing this thread to remind you that the circular firing squad hurts all of us, and that we're all best served by taking the time to figure out what happened, and what we need to do TOGETHER moving forward. (5/?)
Amendment: 10% of the time, the takedowns of different folks will be real and valid. We have a lot of grifters on the left. It's hard to know sometimes. An easy way to tell is if the thing they're saying or selling seems too good to be true, it certainly is.
