i have come to the startling and upsetting realization that, if i am reading the tides of the internet correctly, "ironic malarkeyposting" is about to be the big meme for the next four years
any internet poster who was invested in trump purely for nihilistic irony-poisoned pot stirring switched to malarkeyposting the instant looked like trump was gonna lose. the people who never cared? they're malarkeyposting now.
i don't think i'm ready for the internet's most irony-poisoned shitposters doing shit like posting "smug bidens." building a cult of personality behind the idea "ha ha, you lost" and making biden the face of it.
i mean if this comes to pass it'll be pretty funny i guess, but lord knows it'll cause its own sort of ridiculous problems when biden inevitably fails to impress.
i just worry that people will get too complacent... too willing to be like "ha ha you lost, all the problems are fixed, time to stop caring!" I think there's a shot people will stay mad and active but I am a worrier.
i think trump made the general public Interested In Politics in a way they've never really been. you can't re-cork that bottle. but there are a LOT of people who are super ready to unplug and stop caring.
watching news anchors just be like "that was pathetic. this dude's a dumbass. fuck him" and cut off his speech mid-way feels like i just watched a switch flip. like corporate media has decided that this man is no longer profitable and they just instantly threw him away.
the irony poison shitposters flipped to Smug Biden in an instant and the corporate news media immediately decided to stop lending him any credence in favor of openly mocking him. that's what i'm seeing right now. everyone using him for personal benefit just dropped him.
it's a weird feeling to see this happen because on one hand "haha yeah cool he lost" on the other hand "oh, so NOW they decide to rag on him? now that it's clear that he lost? now that it's clear that supporting him by publicizing his antics is not free money anymore?"
the people with the platforms could have done this any second for the past four years but instead they waited until after he clearly lost the election because there's money in propping him and his idiots up. there's money in The Conversation.
i don't want to get Prediction-y but i feel like we're gonna see him get banned from something pretty soon. one of the big websites is gonna cut him loose now that The News(tm) has decided his usefulness has died up
november 5th, 2020: the day that the people who never cared decided that trump wasn't worth it anymore
god i wonder what the democrats are gonna do now that the election is done??? they were always saying "wait for the election" and now that the election clearly has a result it's building towards, the corporate media switch just fucking flipped.
these next two months are going to be so fucking weird. i wasn't expecting the media to just instantly flip to full-on negative instead of "measured and critical but also way too fair"
far be it from me to trick myself in to thinking the democrats are gonna do something, but watching multiple corporate news networks cut the dude off mid-speech to make fun of him makes it feel like something just changed and now the money is in "we're done with this dude"
perhaps i am reading too much in to the events of these past few days. but i think we're about to see what happens to the most powerful man in the world when it's neither "ironic epic trolling" or "profitable" to be on his side.

i don't think we'll see a cult-like ironic worship of biden like we saw for trump. nobody is going to try to make "hyper masculine god emperor biden" shit. but there will be loads of "ha ha jack, you lost! pack up your malarkey and hit the trails, come on now!" going around.
leftists must combat malarkeyposting by continuing the "dog burying" meme and get things to a level of homeostasis where everyone knows that we're all just fucking around and shitposting about this mostly useless old man
we need state funded healthcare to give trauma counseling to the dogs that biden buried. those dogs are still under there, man. he's got to take responsibility.
