Out tonight at The Stonewall Inn, crowd gathered for protest focused on trans rights. One woman says a Biden will need to be pushed on trans issues and rights.

On one side of the street Black Trans activists sing You’ll Never Walk Alone. Across from them hundreds of NYPD officers on Mtn Bikes and riot gear standby.

NYPD on streets. Helicopters overhead.

Mixed in with the black trans protest are the Justice for George Floyd group from last night. Spoke with 2 people who were arrested last night. One short 115lb young woman was charged with threatening police. She’s back out tonight, to show she won’t be intimidated.

Protester ask press to keep 15 feet from them, especially “aggressive photographers.” Otherwise, “you’ll be asked to leave.” Many scoffs from press corps.

And protesters take to the streets for a 2nd night in NYC.

Helluva start:

Narrow sidewalks, trash everywhere, scaffolding, bikers on sidewalk, lots of cops racing along, you see how things can escalate quick. Nothing aggressive I’ve seen yet though.

This is NYC right now:

Counterterrorism officers patrolling streets. SRG bike crew tells woman biking slow, “get the hell out of my way.”

And at least a couple arrests now,

“Why was I attacked” and “stonewall was a riot!”

Scene from protest tonight in Lower Manhattan. Several people were arrested. Group at Mulberry and Kenmare now. Police playing “step on sidewalk or be charged with disorderly conduct”announcements.

I’ll be honest, there are so many police im having a hard time finding the protesters.

This is what I mean, flanked on all sides. And no vox from these guys.

And here we are, 2 blocks from 14th street and protesters are surrounded on all sides. Trapped bw E12th and E 11th. How can this go well?

Ok, sidewalks cleared, but even on sidewalk I keep getting told to move, you can’t find the right place to stand out here. Either bumping into a bike cop on sidewalk or a large crew of officers.

Jumannee Williams out here, tells this guy, “one thing I have to say, cool outfit.”

Here it is folks, this is about all the protesters that have been out here all night, plus maybe a dozen people on bikes. The police response has just been incredible. Counter terrorism, SRG, etc., to follow this crowd of flag waving trans rights activists.

I thought we were done! Not at all!

Getting tense here.

Police have filled south side of union square, in some sort of tactical formation. So, so few protesters here.

The NYPD has now gone back to the Whole Foods side. It’s mostly NYC press corps here and a dozen protesters tops. And still warning that we will be arrested for unlawfully blocking the roadway.

There a lot of talk about protesters “obstructing the roadway” tonight, but this is just a slice of the police out here tonight, in the bus lane and on the sidewalks.
