Thales Thread: Conspicuous Consumption, Celebrities, and the Proles

Look on Instagram for thots these days, look at their support for BLM, their protestations of equity, socialism, and social justice.

Then look at her booty shot in front of a fucking Rolls.
Look at rich liberal celebrities talking about privilege, and the white man, the sexism, the racism, poverty, etc...

Then look at their mansions, their blinged-out rides, their fancy designer clothes at every event.

Rightists say hypocrisy. But that explanation doesn't satisfy.
I remember a conversation I had with @HaygoodLaw, who is kinda-sorta Leftist (I like him - don't trash him please) about the statues of various historical figures. He suggested artists, musicians, poets, etc... instead. Less controversial, I suppose.

Basically, celebrities.
And it occurs to me that the modern Leftist doesn't mind conspicuous consumption as a general rule. They want their gold-plated rims, or rolls, or fancy crib, designer clothes. They want a personal photographer for Instagram booty shots. They want exotic vacations.
In the world of the Left, money comes about from a sort of quasi-democratic process: the popular, famous musician gets to be the Boujee. Or the big booty OF thot. Or the actor, athlete, etc...

These things are legitimate paths to wealth for a Leftist. These are their heroes.
These are the people they want to grant statues, and honors, etc... The brave soldier on the battlefield? No. The business man? The explorer? The inventor? No.

The soldier is morally suspect. The business man? Profits off others' labor. The explorer? A colonizer...
The inventor? He stole that from someone else. You didn't build that. So why should you get wealth? Statues? Honors?

No. Rightist heroes and Leftist heroes are totally different types of people, in most cases. A Leftist might actually want a statue of Ariana Grande.
It's not that wealth is illegitimate on its face to the Left, it's that it must be granted by pop culture acclaim, in the Leftist world. In that world, a popular rapper or Only Fans thot has a more legitimate claim to these things than Elon Musk.
This isn't to say Leftists hate all soldiers, businessmen, explorers, etc... it's that these are not "hero worship" occupations to them. They are necessary, perhaps, in the way a plumber might be needed. But you don't build a statue to Joe the Plumber.
In the same way, Rightists might listen to Ariana Grande, or really like Ryan Reynolds in Deadpool. But they don't squee whenever Ariana Grande walks in the room (they might check out her ass, though).

Athletes kinda-sorta appeal to both groups, but in different ways.
In a way, Rightists and Leftists have parallel socio-economic structures. Both have their proles, their middle class, and their Boujees that they feel are legitimate. But there is not a whole lot of cultural overlap.
It is not uncommon for a Rightist to lament that some celebrity flapping his talkhole is getting paid way too much money to do some stupid shit on TV - this is the Rightist equivalent of a Leftist blathering on that Musk or Trump made too much money in their business dealings.
The TL;DR is that Left and Right in America are almost entirely different cultural institutions. Their heroes are different. Their path to fame, power, and wealth is different. Status signals are different. And what appeals to one will almost always low-key annoy the other.
