During the conversation in our #AECT2020 panel we discussed representation and anti-racism in Board Game design. From this I wanted to shout out BIPOC people in and around the #boardgame industry/Academia. Please feel free to include people I may have missed. (Including you!)
I'll start with Rebecca Bayeck @rybayeck who initially invited me to be on this panel. Her work on board games in Africa and their cultural contexts was phenomenal and reminds us that board games a global phenomenon and it is important to take into account cultural history.
Next is our gracious panel chair Tutaleni Asino @tutaleni who kept us all on track! Tutaleni has interesting work on educational design and design as a teaching/learning methodology!
Next is Designer Omari Akil! @OmariAkil
Omari has some killer games coming out of their company @BGBrothas! I'm particularly a fan of Rap Godz
Next is Dee @hellenus. Personality, Cat parent, Co-Host of @playonlycast
Following up is the other Co-Host of @playonlycast , board game writer, sci-fi writer featured in FFG's TI4, Calvin Wong Tze Loon @ithayla
I think Calvin was in a popular movie or something at some point too. More importantly he did a review of Vast as a limerick.
Next is Bebo @BoldBebo! The mastermind behind @BeBoldGames, The Everything Table Top Games book, and a whole host of other content!
Next is @OrionDBlack, they have some great writing related to tabletop RPGs . I'm also a fan of their solo RPG "Plot Armor"
Next up is board game twitter's emotional touch stone and TikTok Star @DannyPlaysGamez !
Next is Sen-Foong Lim! @SenFoongLim Game Designer and one half of the Bamboozle Bros. Currently working on Jiangshi: Blood in the Banquet Hall. A game about Chinese immigrants running a haunted restaurant!
Also working on Jiangshi is @bananachangames A talented designer and Owner of @gameandacurry !
Next is industry superstar Eric Lang @eric_lang !
