My advice to young people, and to young conservatives in particular, is to turn off cable TV and read. Read history, read philosophy, read biography, read economics. Read authors who inspire you, and authors you disagree with. And travel. Travel to a country outside the US.
None of this will ensure you are "right" all the time. But the curiosity and open-mindedness it engenders will help immunize you from propaganda and the tribal echo chamber. What it won't necessarily do, however, is give you the moral backbone to stand alone, when necessary.
Why young conservatives, in particular? Because as a young conservative myself, in the 1980s and '90s, I was positively encouraged to do all these things. And this has changed.
I see some people point out that it's impossible to travel. This is advice for the long term, not next week. Someday we will all travel again. In the meantime, read about a place you want to travel, research and draw up your plans. That's how all of my journeys begin.
