I know this whole twitter thing can become an echo chamber — but I learned some useful stuff as a poll worker and so I'm going to try doing one of these long thread things people do --

I completed my assignment as a poll worker with a fourteen-hour shift on Nov 3rd: I accompanied the vote center lead as a witness after the poles closed, to drop off the ballots at a secure location where they were guarded by LA Country Sheriffs.

Those ballots had different classifications — which means they were processed differently. This is all super boring, which is kind of the point:
Some bombastic conspiracy is pretty unlikely: There’s really no such thing as an ‘illegal ballot’.

Take the “Provisional Ballot” — which is issued on the condition of irregularity during check-in — which means it's counted later, after officials verify the voter. But those ballots are only counted WHEN they are determined to be valid —

Not only are the voters verified before they cast their ballot: the BALLOTS are counted at the voting center, confirmed at the drop-off, and then processed.
So this lazy fiction of ballots appearing out of no where and packed into ballot boxes is pretty impossible.

And that’s what is so striking to me about this current attack on the election — How LAZY it is --

Any one of these "stop/protect the vote" people could have applied to be an election worker. They could have put in the time, taken the oath, and volunteered to protect the process. They would’ve left the experience better informed and having done a civic duty.
7/
7/
What’s being lost in this malarkey is the hard work of the election clerks who have been ACTUALLY PROTECTING the vote since early voting began, and are still doing it right now --
8/
8/
They have to follow strict guidelines to count these ballots --
Our work included processes for allowing poll observers and preventing any partisan electioneering -- all while taking health precautions to protect against Covid.
(I maybe over did it a little, admittedly...)

All this is to say that a lot of people put in dedicated time to make sure this election was safe and secure -- and these allegations of 'illegal ballots' are a lazy conspiracy in place of honest civic engagement.
10/

And this sort of indulgent conspiracy buffoonery can really only be cured by civic engagement — so sign up to be a poll worker (I learned a lot doing it!) -- especially for the important runoffs happening if you're currently in #GEORGIA

And 66.9% is apparently a "record" turnout — to which I can only leave you with this thought:
