If you are a campaign hack like me, you know the post-election job search starts before the results even have time to cool. It’s a huge pain and source of anxiety ... and covid will make it 100 times more complicated. 1/5
/5 So if you worked on a campaign or campaign-adjacent job, feel free to reach out. I have no jobs to offer, and relatively little wisdom from so many mistakes. But if any of that is helpful, DMs are open. Think of it as a bring your own coffee networking session.
/5 FWIW, I’ve been through years when I had a great election cycle, and been unemployed for months. Then disastrous ones where I barely had the weekend before I started my next job. There’s no rhyme or reason behind it and it doesn’t at all reflect your work or your abilities.
/5 The process takes an emotional and financial toll as you drain savings, run up your credit cards, and skip health insurance. All because you want to saddle up again in a field that’s thankless and full of bad people but challenging and intensely rewarding and meaningful.
/5 Remember, there's tons of hacks and flacks who understand what you are going through and rooting for you, and will help how they can. So hunt us down and stay in touch.
