my course 🤩👍🏻
£9250 to do a practical course online with reasonable suggestions from students (for adapting guidelines to let us work as best we can in covid to not totally shaft our job prospects) totally ignored & now this too.
£9250.

It’s such a shame, the first two years were brilliant. This year has been a disorganised mess - I understand the implications of COVID, but course leaders don’t seem to know what’s going on next week, never mind next term.

This incident is just another kick in the teeth.
I was initially hesitant to say anything about it, but at the end of the day, I am a customer, and I have a right to talk about it.

This year is the first year where I feel like a customer rather than a student.

As long as they have my money, my prospects don’t matter.
look, I don’t think anything said in this leaked private chat is too bad - everyone has a right to their own opinions and I recognise that tutors aren’t robots.

Having said that, I do wonder how the individual students mentioned are feeling right now.
This is more a case of ‘if you mean it to stay private, make sure it stays private’.

There was already a sense of demotivation amongst the cohort and a lack of trust towards the tutors.

This is now amplified, and this incident is a final straw for some people.
No one with any authority will admit that what we’re getting isn’t worth our money - instead we get fed buzzwords/phrases like ‘Creative Challenge’ to try and make us forget that we’re paying £9250 to sit in our rooms.

We are tired of it.
As I say, I don’t think the leaked chat is too bad on a personal level.

But it’s become a catalyst for me to finally go in-depth on how fed up I am with how things are.

The heartbreaking thing is just how much I adored my first two years here.
For the record, I believe there had been many formal complaints made to the university and students union (before any of this came out) about the state of the course this year. As far as I am aware, nothing has been done yet.
Every time a student makes a reasonable suggestion on how we can improve the course & adapt it’s Covid guidelines to help us get more out of it, they aren’t just faced with denial, but certain members of the staff seem to be actively annoyed and villainise the respective student.
