Thread: At CAC today Councillors agreed a report which will see Glasgow expand our international connections & begin working with Santiago, Chile; Pittsburgh, USA; & Berlin, Germany on a range of issues, focussing for now on the run up to COP26.
Cities across the globe have shown us how to produce climate policy that listens to people, empowers communities & addresses legitimate concerns of workers.

Seeing this crisis as an opportunity because we don’t have any other option but to!
In specific regards to Santiago, there is role for Glasgow to play in giving space for those voices in the Global South to be heard. Chile was denied that last year as COP25 was moved & their input is too often not asked for or forgotten.
And Pittsburgh, a city like Glasgow which benefited greatly from the Industrial Revolution & now faces immense challenges in those areas. We both need to provide clear plans for a just transition - plans that take workers with us on this journey.
I hope this is just the start of exciting partnerships that will see communities, trade unions, experts & all elected officials included in these conversations/policy making in the weeks & months leading up to COP26 as well as for years to come!
