So people have been wondering if this shot is the start of a retcon of the ST because it blows up the way we saw in jedi and not in line with RoS. The text is also directly taken from RotJ. Sadly I don't think this is designed to be a retcon but is another issue all together

One of the biggest issues with the Disney Era of Star Wars, whether it be the JJ/RJ/KK stuff, or the Favro/Filoni stuff (can we abbreviate that FnF?) is the real world fan nods and the heavy reliance on nostalgia in order to draw people into a world that feels forced

Don't get me wrong a good nod here and there is quite fun, it makes people smile to get the reference. The PT and Clone wars were good at doing it but it was subtle. a little nod or there, the disney era, not so much!

We first saw this in Rogue One when Pond Baba and Cornelius Evazan appeared in Rogue One. Even though the planet would be destroyed about an hour later and they would have to end up all the way over on tattooine, it got a smile but was kinda odd in universe.

This would expand in RoS with the celebration in the desert that only takes place once every 42 years (the exact time since A New hope when it released), and then there is the massive everything fleet at the end. These felt forced as hell.

#Mandalorian
however, would take this to a new level. Constantly hitting on fan tropes that don't make any sense in universe, the biggest one being the idea that storm troopers have bad aim...

This kind of things hurts the narrative, yes on screen it appears the storm troopers have bad aim due to plot armor. but in universe they were elite warriors that were supposed to be feared.

By making it so that in universe everyone knew they were clueless with their aim, it degrades the accomplishments of the heroes in order to basically give a nudge nudge, wink wink to the fans. This is a common problem with Disney in general, nods over plot.

Don't get me wrong it was funny, but it completely kills the tension of the scene when our main character is trapped in a room, surrounded by people that can't hit the broad side of a barn. Why hide... you have armor and they can't hit shit!

So despite the rumors of a Retcon coming in Mandolorian, I feel this is just another forced nod, the writers FnF thought it would be cool, and the effects guy just pulled something from RotJ, having gotten very little info.

Instead of having a hand over the whole project and making sure the universe is secure they just add in little fan winks here and there, regardless. thats my main issue with Mandolorian, it feels too much like a fan film giving winks then worrying about story line.

But that's just me, Hope you guys are enjoying the show. It's nice to talk about star wars again and get away from politics for a bit! Hope you are all doing well, staying calm and healthy!
