This is an ontology (of which a Trumpism is one example) which evaluates all things by reference to itself. The meanings of words are relative to this central understanding.
In this understanding, “democracy” is not the process by which an electorate chooses leaders. It is the description of a state functioning in line with the core belief, and the process by which leaders propounding that belief are given power.
Therefore any voting process which may return a negative result is illegitimate. It is not “democracy” in the new meaning.
Everything serves the core ontology and can be measured only by how well it reinforces they ontology. Medical and climate science, international political reality... anything which is in conflict with the core is fake.
Why is this mood so bound up with conspiracy theories? Because conspiracy theories are what happens when you weight one understanding above all others, inhabiting the negative space around the blade of Occam’s Razor.
You can call it Fascism if you like - certainly it is Fascistic - but it is not primarily political. If you consider it that way you will miss its extent and you will be continually frustrated by its resilience.
