I try to avoid divisive political discussion on this website (sarcastic yes, divisive no), but please disabuse yourself of oversimplifying the Trump support, especially as open votes for racism, because this is an inadequate caricature.
There are lots of factors that weigh in on voters' decisions (even "single issue voters" have lots to think about), and some of these *are* bad or explicitly racist, at least in some cases, but not always and not usually.
It may simply be that America is more diverse than you imagined, or at least the "other half" may not be as simple as you conclude.
Even former Harvard President Larry Summers only recently learned that "America is big" and "some people are different from me" (both paraphrases) in what he wrote for FT. https://www.ft.com/content/7a558b16-cad4-11e8-8d0b-a6539b949662
If you can be Harvard President and not realize some people are different (which is, honestly, a pretty simpleton way to think), then it's worth reflecting that not all people who disagree with you are simpletons.
*that said, let's get these votes counted and move forward to proper governance, a distinct change from the dumpster fire we've seen these last ~4 years*
