I had this weird dream that I was hosting a huge get together for all of my friends and even my friends friends I havent met before. But I didn't know what to make for everyone to eat. I didnt know I was hosting the party until I fell asleep!
The first person to reply was @TropicalFreeze2 who is fantastic and funny and a great human being, but if you've watched his YouTube videos you may not want to trust his food instincts, unless it's about Socki.
Next was @spooneebard and AngryTrees and @JHummel1125 who all suggested pizza, but it was such a special get-together that I wanted to make something homemade and there wasn't time to bake that many pizzas.
Also if we wanted to order pizza, I was a little short and would have to Sbarro some money.
We decided to go with @Brossentia's suggestion, which was to have everyone who can bring either a dish or an ingredient for a community dish. That way, everyone can contribute to something unique, and we'll have plenty of food to try (randomly, in 5-30 second intervals).
When @pidgezero_one showed up, I was reminded of her fantastic thread of ramen reviews (go look it up if you're hungry) and that's when I figured out what I would contribute. Noodles! Well, spaghetti specifically.
To help make the sauce, @Netara brought just a prodigious amount of mushrooms of all types, so we could have a robust, meaty, and vegan-friendly sauce to go with our gluten-free noodles.
We used tomatoes that @jeremyarroyo brought and followed a recipe from @SchalaKitty . @Insaneman22_ and @CooBeeOnTwitch brought the spices and herbs to round out the sauce, but...something was missing. I couldn't figure it out!
It wasn't until @Kippesoep001 arrived that I realized what I was missing. I remembered something my dad always told me when it came to cooking: are ya garlicin', son?
