Fellow women (mostly white women, but this message could apply to others as well), let me be serious with you for a minute.

Anytime you don't like a woman because her voice grates on your nerves, or you don't like her hobbies, choice in music, or the way she dresses, or her body size/shape, or she's too assertive, or she's achieved things that you don't think she deserves ...

... or because of things that are literally lies about her, or you just don't know why ... 99% chance that's internalized misogyny.

If the woman in question is not white, there also could be some unconscious racial bias at work. (Don't get defensive; we ALL have to work on that, me included. It is systemic. Calm down, I'm not calling you a racist.)

Sisters, we have been trained to hate ourselves. You can't dislike another woman simply for being a woman and not have that steal some of your own shine.

I'm saying this now because the first woman VP is about to walk into the White House and work very hard on behalf of us all. This is a historic moment. Kamala Harris is accomplished, she is Black, she is Indian, she is a woman. Learn to celebrate her. Learn to celebrate us.

And for any men reading this: understand that if you dislike a woman for any of the reasons I mentioned above, that's misogyny. If you don't want to be misogynistic, work on it. You can do better. We can all grow. She will be your VP too.
